New Roommate

Way back in December, during that whole “Christmas” thing, Mary Jo got me a wood dinosaur set. It’s several sheets of thin wood with little parts stamped into each. You’re supposed to remove the parts, then assemble it into something cool. They make kits that turn into houses, jeeps, tanks, boats, and even frogs. MJ gave me the velociraptor set. Fortunately I’m not Randall Munroe, so I was excited.

I’ve been saving putting it together, since it’s something you can really only do once. The time recently came for it to be assembled though. I decided that since I’d been saving it for so long, I’d better make a video. So I recorded the whole dang thing. I started by painting it, then adding decoration, and finally assembling the sucker. The whole process took much longer than I expected. I had budgeted about 3 hours for it. It took more like 6. Yeah. And I did it the day I started my new German course, so it’s kind of done at two different times.

Anyway, I sped up the boring parts to make it more manageable. I first did a Measly 5x Speed increase, resulting in the 27 minute behemoth below:

Maybe don’t watch that one unless you’re reeaaaaaaaaaallly bored.

Being sane (I swear!), I made a shorter 50x Speed version that’s only 5:22 long. That’s much more reasonable.

However, Joni complained that it was still too long in some parts. Well, since she complained, you also get the Super 100x Speed version that’s a paltry 4:09. Doubling the speed didn’t shorten it much because there are regular speed bits of me talking… because I know you looooove that.

This whole thing happened a week ago today. It took me so long to get the videos up because the Internet here is junk and a 27 minute video is kinda large. Like, 3GB large. I had to upload it back to Minnesota, then get it on to YouTube! The Internet connection here couldn’t handle it. Point being, we’ve been living with this freaky thing for a week and haven’t had any major incidents. Joni seems unfazed by it. Still, I fear for my safety.
