So, I’m here.\u00a0 I got in on Monday night.\u00a0 Will picked me up and we had some food, watched TV, and went to bed.\u00a0 Will went to work the next day.\u00a0 I met him at his office and we went to Jimmy John’s for lunch.\u00a0 After lunch, I wandered around downtown.\u00a0 I went to Whole Foods, which is a big natural\/organic grocery store.\u00a0 It’s fancy.\u00a0 I also found a store that sells little wooden German toys.\u00a0 Other than that, it was mostly what you’d expect.\u00a0 Barnes and Noble, movie theater, McDonald’s, clothing stores.<\/p>\n

After Will was done with work, we went to Pike Place Market, which is basically a big market of produce and sea food.\u00a0 There’s a very popular booth where they play catch with the fish for fun.\u00a0 They seem to enjoy taking risks with it too.\u00a0 If the guy hadn’t caught it, it would have hit a shopper in the face.\u00a0 The market has other stores too.\u00a0 There was one that sells comics, collectibles, and “original” movie scripts.\u00a0 And by that I mean copies of original movie scripts.\u00a0 Will thought that was really interesting.<\/p>\n

And there was another health food store and a magic shop.\u00a0 I got pretty excited about the magic shop, but it was closed.\u00a0 We’ll have to go back in June, so we can take some pictures… and go to the magic shop.<\/p>\n

It was raining of course.\u00a0 We were hungry, so we went to Pike Place Bar and Grill.\u00a0 It has a nice view of the market.\u00a0 We had crab cakes as an appetizer.\u00a0 Will had fettucine alfredo with smoked salmon (yum) and I had fish and chips with coleslaw.\u00a0 It was tasty.\u00a0 Seafood is a thing here.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, we didn’t do much.\u00a0 I mostly sat around at the apartment, met Will for lunch.\u00a0 We went to a D\u00f6ner Kebap place, which is a Turkish\/German thing I was excited about.\u00a0 Will brought me up to see the office and meet the people, then I just went back to the apartment.<\/p>\n

When Will got home, we made some food, then went to see our new permanent apartment.\u00a0 It has a woodburning fireplace, which is odd.\u00a0 I’ll probably put candles in it.\u00a0 It’s a nice place.\u00a0 The neighborhood I guess is really artsy.\u00a0 There are a ton of bars and restaurants around.\u00a0 I guess there’s this Cuban place that’s really popular; there’s a line of people there all the time.\u00a0 Julie told me about it, and then someone at work told Will about it, so we’ll have to check it out.<\/p>\n

Thursday I went to Fort Lewis to visit a friend from high school (Julie).\u00a0 It was raining of course, and I don’t really like to drive.\u00a0 So I drove a strange car in a strange place in the rain.\u00a0 Then I had to get a visitor pass to get into the base.\u00a0 I was warned not to bring anything illegal because they might search the car.\u00a0 But I didn’t get searched; I guess I don’t look very threatening.<\/p>\n

We mostly talked, and went to Best Burger for lunch, and Patrick showed me his toys.\u00a0 He’s very friendly, that kid.\u00a0 It was a good day.\u00a0 Julie will be moving back to Minnesota soon when Jon gets deployed, so maybe we’ll meet up in Minnesota sometime between now and June.\u00a0 I guess when Jon gets back in December, they’ll be back in Washington.\u00a0 It’ll be nice to have someone I know nearby.\u00a0 The base is about an hour outside of Seattle.\u00a0 On my way back into Seattle, it was rush hour, which was basically the same as rush hour in Minneapolis.\u00a0 Jon said it was going to be crazy, but I think he just likes to mess with people.<\/p>\n

I got back and we ordered Chinese delivery and we watched TV until I fell asleep.\u00a0 I’ve been really sleepy in the evenings, probably due to the two hour time change.\u00a0 Now it’s Friday and I’m blogging; I really should have taken some pictures.\u00a0 I’m not sure we have much for plans for the evening.\u00a0 I go back tomorrow and back to school on Monday.\u00a0 And Will moves into the permanent apartment tomorrow, too.\u00a0 That’ll be a change for him, considering how nice the temporary place is and how little we have when it comes to furnishings for the new place.\u00a0 It’s only for a few months right?<\/p>\n
