Just got back from the first class.\u00a0 It went well; the students were friendly and not unwilling to speak.\u00a0 My presentation went over pretty well.<\/p>\n
One interesting thing is that because this is a teacher-training college, the English courses focus not just on improving the English of the teachers in training but also on teaching them how to teach English.\u00a0 It’s actually very helpful for me, because I’m learning more strategies for teaching language along with them, while I help them with their English.\u00a0 Before, I complained a bit that I didn’t get placed in a secondary school, but now I think this could be even more useful for me than I thought.<\/p>\n
On the way back, a man stopped me to ask how to get to the cemetery.\u00a0 I didn’t even know there was a cemetery near there, so I told him I didn’t know and that I was sorry.\u00a0 He heard my accent and said, “ah, yes” in a knowing way.\u00a0 If I had known where it was, I could have told him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
