We&#8217;ve tried two new cheeses in as many days!  The next cheese is Rauchk\u00e4se.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/willz.org\/hosted\/blog\/austria\/cheese_and_spoon\/IMG_0334.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/willz.org\/hosted\/blog\/austria\/cheese_and_spoon\/IMG_0334_small.JPG\" alt=\"Rauchk\u00e4se\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rauchk\u00e4se translates to &#8220;smoke cheese&#8221;.  And that&#8217;s exactly what it is.  The consistency is very strange.  It&#8217;s kind of got this rubbery porous thing going on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/willz.org\/hosted\/blog\/austria\/cheese_and_spoon\/IMG_0335.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/willz.org\/hosted\/blog\/austria\/cheese_and_spoon\/IMG_0335_small.JPG\" alt=\"Rubbery\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s quite odd.  The flavor is&#8230; well&#8230; smoke.  That&#8217;s the best that I can describe it.  Well, actually.  You know how smoked fish tastes?  This cheese kind of tastes like that.  The smoke flavor is way too overpowering.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not a fan of this cheese.  The texture is a little gross.  It&#8217;s got a very rubbery feel to it.  The only flavor to speak of is smoke.  It&#8217;s kind of like someone took a piece of rubber, smoked it, and is passing it off as cheese.  It just doesn&#8217;t appeal to me.  I thought it would be something like a nice Applewood Smoked Cheddar, but it&#8217;s just smoke rubber.  Ewwwwww.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Goodness!
