We just got back from the English department Christmas party at my school.\u00a0 First, we went down to the cafeteria, where we had a few “frankfurters” with a bun.\u00a0 I had sauerkraut with mine, but Will didn’t.\u00a0 Then we went upstairs with all the English teachers to the department office to continue our party.\u00a0 I think at least three people asked Will what it was like for him to be living in Austria.<\/p>\n
Like Will said, we made deviled eggs and ham-pickle-cream cheese rolls.\u00a0 They all got eaten.\u00a0 I was pretty pleased.<\/p>\n
There was plenty to drink, which was handy, because one of the teachers brought his guitar, one had an accordion, and one had a set of bongo drums.\u00a0 So we sat in the department office and sang songs.\u00a0 Some of the teachers are really talented and good at improvising.\u00a0 The one guy sang a really nice bass.\u00a0 I sang along to the songs I knew, but I stuck to the melody.\u00a0 I got a chance to play the bongos a bit, too.\u00a0 We sang some Christmas songs, but some other songs too, like Ring of Fire and Sweet Home Alabama.<\/p>\n
I wonder if this is a common thing to do in German speaking countries.\u00a0 When I was at the training seminar, one of the leaders brought their accordion and we sang songs.\u00a0 When I studied in Germany, there were also some guys who would bring their guitars and song books when we would sit around our fire pit.\u00a0 Some of you who know me well can imagine how much I enjoy this kind of thing.<\/p>\n
I’ve been feeling a bit anti-social lately; I was sick for a while and I didn’t have any classes for a bit, so we had really been keeping to ourselves lately.\u00a0 Now I feel better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
