I’m in a German class.\u00a0 I went to the first meeting yesterday (Monday).\u00a0 It was a bit of an ordeal getting into the class.\u00a0 It was full, so I put myself on the waitlist.\u00a0 They called my cell while I was doing stuff and they left a voice mail saying there was a place open.\u00a0 I called back a few hours later to tell them I did want to be in the class, but they told me I had been unreachable, so they found someone else to fill the space \ud83d\ude41\u00a0 I was pretty disappointed.\u00a0 But then they called on Monday morning again with another place open.\u00a0 This time I answered and then I was happy \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
The first thing we did at class was to write on three post it notes our name, our first language, and our favorite food.\u00a0 Then we stuck them to the chalkboard and each person took a different three post its and walked around trying to find the owners.\u00a0 So we had to ask each other things like, “Do you like pizza?” After that, we brainstormed questions we might ask people we had just met.\u00a0 Then we got into pairs and interviewed each other using the questions.\u00a0 After our interview was done, we introduced our partner to the rest of the class.<\/p>\n
After all of the interviews were done, the teacher corrected some common mistakes that we had made during our introductions.\u00a0 Our homework for Wednesday is to draw an outline of a person, and then color the languages we speak onto our person.\u00a0 Then we’re supposed to write short texts about why we put the languages where we did.\u00a0 I might scan and post it later so you can get a better idea of what I’m talking about.<\/p>\n
