We’re back from Bratislava and Budapest and we need to blog about it before we leave for Venice tomorrow.\u00a0 We left early in the morning and got there around 1:00.\u00a0 The first thing we did was get checked into our hostel:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Just kidding!\u00a0 Our hostel was completely normal.\u00a0 Bratislava is quite nice, although there is a mixture of old and new.\u00a0 It’s not like what you would expect if you took Eurotrip<\/a><\/em> seriously.\u00a0 Please note Eurotrip<\/em> is not at all family friendly, but these clips are kind of okay:<\/p>\n

Some parts of the city are new and modern and some are old and crumbly.\u00a0 The balcony at the hostel had an interesting view.<\/p>\n

We got checked into the hostel, dumped our stuff and went out ‘sploring right away.\u00a0 Our hostel was on this street.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We went to a little restaurant and pub nearby. Will had a plate of little dumping noodles with Slovakian sheep cheese and bacon on top.\u00a0 He let me try it; it was tasty.\u00a0 I had a goulash soup and we each had a beer.\u00a0 The meal came with a free newspaper and we discovered a cartoon.\u00a0 I asked the waitress what Obama was saying: “Who is this?”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I don’t know who that guy is either, but that’s an EU flag.\u00a0 I imagine he’s some representative of Slovakia.<\/p>\n

After we ate, we did some major wanderings through the old part of town.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here you see the main square in the old part of town.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here is St. Michael’s Gate.\u00a0 The only existing gate of the old city wall.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There are also three famous statues in Bratislava.\u00a0 One is the guy below.\u00a0 The other is a guy hanging off the edge of a manhole and the other has a camera peeking around a corner.<\/p>\n

Here is where the old part of town meets the new.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After our wanderings, we decided to go to the shopping center on the river.\u00a0 It was really similar to malls in the States.\u00a0 The guy at the hostel said there was a grassy area outside the mall, so we went out there.\u00a0 One of the cafes had giant pillows put out for people, so we sat down on one to rest a bit.<\/p>\n

The grassy area was on the Danube.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After sitting around for a little while on our big pillow, we went back to the mall, where they had a Billa, the same grocery store chain we shop at in Linz.\u00a0 We got some bread, ham, and clementines to eat for supper.\u00a0 We sat down on a bench to eat.\u00a0 We sat for a little while, then we went back to the hostel to go to sleep.<\/p>\n
