It’s been a while.

So it’s been a while.  School is going well.  The kids are kind of squirrelly, but there all pretty good kids and they’re interested in learning German, which is important.  I like the school and the other teachers.  It’s sad that it’s only temporary; frankly, I hope the old German teacher doesn’t come back.

Unfortunately, it may be the case that because I’m a new teacher, I might not be allowed to take kids to Germany yet.  It might be possible to go if I can get the German teacher from West to come with.  But I get the feeling from her that she only goes to Germany with kids as much as she has to.  She said if she didn’t have to go this summer, she wouldn’t.

Will is in Washington D.C. right now visiting his friend Ben and he’s starting a new tech support job soon.  He’s over qualified for it and it doesn’t pay very well, but it’s only temporary.  Kari just had a new baby, Emmett Gene Olson.  I got to go in the O.R. with her.  It was interesting and neat to see the baby right away.

That’s mostly all I have to report.  We’re going to Will’s parents’ house for Thanksgiving and we’re going to my parents for Christmas, since Will’s parents will be in Florida at his sister’s place.  I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and seeing the new baby again.

  • How about if you were able to bring another German teacher along -an old lady who has taught German for 100 years and has dragged kids all over the world before? Like Mrs. Roggenbuck. Or how about arranging to have the old East German teacher link up with your group over in German? He might go for that.

  • This is a bit belated, but congratulations to your sister!
