Berlin (Day 6)

Day 6 is a sad day. Everyone was up and running at about 7AM, but only because Ben, Jaci, and Mike had to catch a taxi to get to the airport. They were going home. Sadnesses. Mary Jo and I said goodbye to them and then we were alone. We actually went back to bed for another hour, then got up and cleaned the apartment a bit, packed our stuff, and got checked out. We left our big suitcase with the apartment office while we ran around the city. We eventually ended up at the Berlin Wall Documentation Center. They have a preserved section of wall with “dead zone”, guard tower, and outer wall.

Wall

They had a display upstairs with a timeline of events and some movies playing of reporters trying to document events at the wall. I guess the East side would use mirrors and water hoses to harass anyone trying to record/photograph. It was really neat.

After a full day in the city, we went back to the apartment office and got our suitcase, then we trekked over to Marlena’s place. She was kind enough to let us stay there a few days. We made some dinner, then watched KeinOhrHasen. After that we called it an early night and went to bed.

Although Day 6 is kinda boring sounding, Days 7 and 8 are much more interesting!
