Exploring Seattle – Seattle Aquarium

Last Sunday, we went to the Space Needle, then to the Aquarium, then to the Space Needle again.  The aquarium wasn’t very exciting.  We didn’t take any pictures there either.  Part of the reason I think was that it was very busy and Will doesn’t like crowded areas, so we just didn’t feel like stopping to get the camera out.  Plus we were tired from our long day at the zoo the day before.

There were fish.  We did get to see some guys in scuba gear in the tanks feeding the them.  There were also otters and sea lions.  We saw an octopus and some jelly fish.  They also had a tide pool where you could touch things, but they had all the same stuff in the tide pools at the Pacific Science Center.  It’s certainly worth going to the aquarium if you have a CityPass, but I probably wouldn’t be willing to pay full price to go.

After the aquarium we went to Red Robin again because we wanted to sit down to eat lunch.  I mentioned in a previous post that they have all you can eat steak fries.  Oh yes.  Then we looked at the shops they have on the pier.  It’s mostly touristy souvenir stuff.  There’s one shop that appears to be pirate themed.  Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe has all the souvenir stuff but then in the back they have these two mummies and some shrunken heads.  It was gross.

While we were walking along the bay, there were these people dressed as ninjas sneaking about trying to be all ninja-y.  Will informed me that they were not real ninjas because we saw them; real ninjas are not seen. Anyway, one of them snuck up on Will and put a sticker on his backpack.  It was some ad for a “color reading.”  Will pointed out that it’s some clever marketing since we still remember it and now I’m telling you all about it on our blog.  I imagine a “color reading” has something to do with a hippy dippy pseudoscience like auras, astrology, palm reading, or homeopathy.  There’s a lot of that around here.  Homeopathy is a thing and some alternative medicines are actually covered by our insurance.  Readers who know me well can probably imagine what I think about that.  In fact, we were browsing a local health food store and Will chastised me for scoffing too loudly.  But I digress.

Well this post has gotten kind of long.  We also went to the Space Needle before the aquarium and then again later.  I’ll put that in the next one.

The blog posts/pictures/videos are greatly appreciated. Seattle looks like a very cool city.

  • I don’t think we told you this, but there’s a veterinarian clinic down the street that appear to have homeopathy for pets. I think they might also do massage and acupuncture… for pets.

It seems like once you have seen one aquarium you have seen them all.

Also, for the record, I would definitely take part in that kind of marketing scheme.
