We Did Stuff

Wow. We… did stuff this weekend. Normally we just sit around, maybe go to the gym, maybe get groceries, but this weekend we actually did stuff! We didn’t take any pictures because:

  1. We’re out of practice at doing stuff
  2. It wasn’t stuff that makes sense for picture taking

On Saturday we met up with a friend of Joni’s from high school and her husband. They live down in Tacoma at Fort Lewis where he’s stationed. They came up with their four year old to visit Fremont and eat at Paseo… which I guess we never blogged about. Paseo is a Carribean restaurant in the Fremont area. They specialize in sandwiches, but they also have entrees. We’d been there once before and had the sandwich. The bread is kind hard, so we tried an entree this time. It was good. They have amazing pork.

We actually got the food as a kick off, then went to a park where we chatted while Patrick (the kid) played. It was a nice little chat. Once we had eaten, we walked down and saw the Fremont Troll. We’ve definitely blogged about that. We continued down to the lake and walked along the shore a bit. We circled back up to the main drag and grabbed some coffee and had a bathroom break. We showed them the dinosaur plants and then the chocolate factory. Who can resist a chocolate factory?

Since we were so close to our apartment by that time, we stopped in to rest and play with Play-Doh. We’re all kids at heart apparently. Pretty soon it was time for them to leave, but we got very side tracked and actually ended up going to Wallingford to check out the crazy knick-knack shop. By this time it was 4PM and they actually had to go, so we sent them on their way and walked home. Then we collapsed and died and never did anything again ever.

The next day we decided to go to a little SuperBowl party they were having. They had invited us the day before and we decided to go do stuff with them. The morning was spent getting groceries and a few things around the house, but then we drove down to Tacoma in the afternoon. We had a mini-adventure trying to get on the base, what with small signs and taking a wrong turn. It worked out OK though. One interesting thing is that visitors need to stop at a visitor center to get a pass. It’s like a DMV where you take a number and wait. It added about 30 minutes to the one hour trip.

Once we actually got to their house, we spent the afternoon chatting with them and a couple of other couples they had over. The other couples also had kids, so we were the only kidless people there. Weird. We also ate until we could barely move, which I assume is the sign of a good party? It’s one of my main criteria in evaluating a party, so in my eyes the whole affair was a roaring success!

We stuck around through the end of the game, then headed home. We got back in about 9PM and collapsed and died and never did anything again ever.

Today we just did work, but that’s OK because it’s no longer the weekend.

Goodness, hanging out with other married couples that have kids? Sounds so…adult. What is this world coming to?
