Christmas Market

Today, we went to a playground to take some pictures and video.  They will be up soon.  We also went to the Christmas Market that opened today.  There were tons of little crafty christmasy things, nativity scenes, and Glühwein.  Glühwein is a sort of hot, spiced, red wine.  Will liked it, and he doesn’t really like wine.  It warms you right up.  We also had Leberkäse on a bun.  Literally translated, it means “liver cheese,” but there is no liver nor cheese involved.  I believe it is a mixture of beef and pork formed into a loaf and then baked.  I would say it has the texture of bologna, but it’s served hot and it’s much tastier.

We went to the Christmas market during the day.  Each of the booths has lights on the roof, so I’m sure it’s much prettier at night.  There’s a big tree with lights, too. We’ll be sure to get some pictures of the market between now and Christmas.

Also, no sign of snow yet in Linz.

Edit!
Will here. Yeah, mixing posts. Weird huh? Anyway, here’s the pics and video Mary Jo was talking about.

On the way to the park we saw this thing:

Rhino

You guess is as good as ours.

The park itself is pretty cute.

Park

One of the little play things looks like a sinking ship. I’m not sure why, but I really like it.

Ship

There’s a little hole on the side you can crawl in to get inside the ship.

Hole

Mary Jo doesn’t fit.

No Fit

There’s another part of the park with more stuff. Here there’s another ship, but this one is Viking themed.

Viking

This ship has little stations you can play at, like the telescope.

There’s a second section here too that sports little play houses.

Houses

Mary Jo can fit in this one.

Back to the Viking ship. It also has a bucket on a chain and pulley you can play with.

Pully

You pull sand up to the boat with the bucket and pulley, then pour it back down in a little tube on the other side of the boat.

Like most boats of the day, it also has an intership communication system. You talk in one end:

Speaker

And listen at the other.

The real attraction at the park is the zip line. Yeah, they have a real zip line there. It is really, really, really fun! Here’s Joni on it:

There are a couple other photos, but I think Mary Jo wants to tell you about them.
